Getting married

A Marriage in church is an act of worship and God is asked to play his central role in the joining of the happy couple. At All Souls we assist in this in two ways, arranging with couples a wedding and for those getting married in other parish churches we arrange the reading of Banns of Marriage. A recent change in legislation means copies of wedding certificates now have to be done through the local registry office where you married.

BANNS

The Banns of marriage have to be read within three months of the date of the wedding ceremony. They have to be read in the church where the couple marry and in the parishes they live. They are read on three consecutive Sundays, after which a bann certificate is issued. There is a fee of £54 for this. If you require your banns read at All Souls then please use our Banns/wedding form.

WEDDINGS

At our wedding service we use the Church of England Wedding order of service. We can provide heating, flowers, music all you would expect for the big day. We hope to encourage the couple to have a few session of preparation too.

There are certain legal restrictions governing who can get married at All Souls, it tends to be people living in the parish or those having a long family association with the church, like parents marriage or their own baptism, please do ask for further clarification. The Church of Engalnd website yourchurchwedding is well worth a look too.

Please use our wedding enquiry form if you would like any more details...
